Alongside our advisory work with firm leadership teams, Lexington designs and delivers leadership programmes through the Lexington Academy. The Academy focuses on the realities of leadership in law firms, particularly the transition into partnership and senior leadership roles and the shift from individual legal contribution to shared responsibility for clients, people, financial performance and risk.

 

Programmes are designed for firms that want to support partners and senior lawyers as they take on broader leadership responsibility. They are grounded in real law-firm situations and shaped to the firm’s strategy, governance model and partnership dynamics.​

Programmes are delivered by Lexington consultants who have themselves held leadership roles in law firms, and who bring direct experience of the issues participants are facing. Where appropriate, we also draw on a carefully selected international faculty, chosen for their relevance to the firm’s context and integrated into the programme alongside the firm’s own partners and business professionals. This ensures learning is credible, grounded and closely connected to how the firm operates in practice.

 

The emphasis is on developing the judgement and capability required to operate effectively across the full breadth of the leadership role, including managing the business, leading people, building client relationships and exercising responsibility as a co-owner of the firm.

 

We have designed and delivered leadership programmes for leading international law firms including Latham & Watkins, Freshfields and CMS, as well as a wide range of independent firms globally. Programmes are often complemented by coaching and mentoring, to support leaders as they apply learning in practice.
